Patricia Barone worked as a painter and printmaker in the 1960s and ’70s, but for the last eighteen years she has been writing poetry and fiction. Her first book, The Wind, a novella, was selected as a winner of the Minnesota Voices Project and published by New Rivers Press in 1987. In 1989, a chapter of her unpublished novel was given a Lake Superior Contemporary Writer’s Award. Barone lives along the Mississippi River with her family and works as a staff nurse in a nursing home.
