Fresh from the Press

Written by Desi Miller

New Rivers Press is happy to announce that as of October 15th our fall releases are finally here!

Flashcards and the Curse of Ambrosia: Winner of the Many Voices Project for prose.

Robert’s two protagonists depict the immutable bonds of friendship, relationships that survive decades, and the collapse of families and societies. Robert captures the silent helplessness felt by children under their parents and by citizens—especially the elderly—under their governments. Whether in ’60s suburbia or their future demise, Robert perfectly renders what it is to be human.

Home Studies: Winner of the Many Voices Project for poetry.

In Home Studies, Julie Gard presents queer midwestern family life from a fresh and engaging perspective. Her prose poetry illuminates the struggles and celebrations of adoptive parenting, love over time, and finding one’s place in a community.

American Fiction Anthology: Volume 14

Twenty-one new authors evoke the painful and beautiful realities of life. Whether the struggles of a recent immigrant to support his family, a young daughter dealing with her mother’s mental health issues, or the slow decay of a once-sharp mind, this volume showcases the lives of these diverse American writers and characters.

Wrestling with Angels

A world traveler and vagabond, Daniel Gabriel draws inspiration from his global experiences, exploring collisions between countries, peoples, and even natural and supernatural occurrences. From Afghanistan and Malaysia to the streets and suburbs of America, Gabriel’s stories evoke the struggles his characters find at crossroads and the inevitable, often devastating results.
